Basic Ball
The ball is one of the easiest and most versatile toys.
- First, tie a slip knot.
- Then, do a drawstring cast-on.
- Knit in the round until you have about an inch-long ball. If you are new at knitting or trying to make a lot of balls quickly, use the e-wrap stitch. If you want a more traditional look, use the u-wrap stitch.
- Finish up with the gathered removal bind off.
When you are finished, stretch out the piece to even out the stitches. Then turn it inside out and tie one end closed by tugging gently on the end string. Then turn it right side out and it is ready to stuff. Because there are a lot of options on how you stuff, I created a different page on it.
Do NOT stuff it with left over yarn. It is too easy for the yarn to come out of the toy, which could lead to a cat ingesting it.
