Cast Ons

Drawstring Cast-On

The Drawstring cast-on is the one I for most of the cat toys I create. It’s designed to allow you to pull the end string after you are finished to close the opening.

Drawstring Cast On image 1 Step 1: Tie a slip knot and place it on the anchor peg. Loop the yarn around the back of the Peg 1 and then around to the front of Peg 2.
Drawstring Cast On image 2 Step 2: Continue weaving the yarn around the rest of the pegs alternating between going behind the odd-numbered pegs and in front of the even-numbered pegs. When back at the start, go behind Peg 1 a second time.

Modified Cast On

I originally planned on including the modified version of this cast on here. Once I tried it, I found it trickier to do and it left a larger loop than I liked. And—most importantly—I didn’t see any benefit to it. If you’re interested in it, you can find a video how-to on YouTube.
