Gathered Removal Bind Off
Bind offs (which I sometimes like to call cast offs) are how you end your project. It is the part where you bind the stitches and remove them from the loom. For most of the projects, I use the Gathered Removal Bind Off for most of the projects. Because you do this type of cast off when making hats on a round loom, there are a lot of versions around. I don’t include them on this site because they aren’t necessary when using such a small loom.
Step 1: Wrap the working yarn about 1-1/2 times around the loom and cut it off. After you’ve done this a few times, you can reduce the length of the tail. But for now, it’s better to have plenty of yarn to work with.
Step 2: Hook your loom hook down through the loop on Peg 1 and snag the working yarn. Twist your hook slightly and gently pull the yarn all the way through the loop.
Step 3: Repeat Step 2 on Peg 2. However, when you are finished, you can remove the loop from the Peg. (Don’t remove the loop from Peg 1 until after Step 5.)
Step 4: Repeat Step 2 with pegs 3 – 12. Remove each loop after you weave the yarn through it.
Step 5: When you get back to Peg 1, pull the yarn through the loop a second time. You can now remove the loop from Peg 1. |
