E-wrap Cast-On in the Round
This cast-on only works for pieces knitted in the round. “In the round” means that you continue knitting on the loom in the same direction, vs going back and forth. If you want to knit a flat piece, you can use the Double E-Wrap Cast-On. Like all projects, this starts out by placing a slip knot on the anchor peg.
1. Make a slip knot and place it on the anchor peg. Going between Peg 12 and Peg 1, wrap the yarn counterclockwise around Peg 1.
2. Going between Peg 12 and Peg 1, wrap the yarn counterclockwise around Peg 1. Repeat until all pegs are wrapped.
3. E-wrap Peg 1 above the first loop. Knit over the bottom loop of Peg 1 by pulling it over the top loop. This will prevent your first row from unraveling if you drop the yarn.
4. Gently push down your first row to make room for the next row of e-wrap. Then, continue e-wrapping the remaining loops. (Note: this picture does not show Peg 1 knitted as instructed.)
5. When you reach Peg 12, knit the bottom loop over the top. This will hold the yarn in place. Knit Pegs 2 through 11. |
